d’bi.young anitafrika will be reading from her 3 collections of dub poetry, Art on Black, Rivers… and Oya as well as from her autobiography-in-progress – Memoir of An Ugly Duckling – which chronicles her life growing up in one of the most notorious garrison communities of Kingston Jamaica. From intimately witnessing the evolution of Dub Poetry through her mother Anita Stewart (one of the genre’s pioneers), to contributing to radical Black feminist thought through theatre using the Anitafrika Method; d’bi.young will share stories from her life experiences followed by a short Q & A.
