dubology/misogynoir
‘dubology/misogynoir’ is an ode to Black womyn in theatre. The dub experiment is in critical conversation with the feminist liberation dub poetry of Louise ‘Miss Lou’ Bennett, Jean Binta Breeze, Cheryl Byron, Elaine Thomas, and my mother Anita Stewart, foremothxrs of dub poetry, featured on the 1986 album entitled “Woman Talk: Caribben Dub Poetry” produced by dub poet Mutabaruka.
The research is based on findings from my PhD on Black womyn in theatre with a particular focus on the intersections of racial and gender oppression that Black womyn experience in the theatre industry.
Thank you to KennyMuzik for the dub riddims.
Thank you to CCA and TAC for your ongoing support of my creative development.
