D’bi.young anitafrika joins the Poetry Africa 2026 lineup!

Dr. d’bi.young anitafrika @dr.dbiyounganitafrika is an internationally celebrated dub poet, biomythicist, theatre-maker and liberatory pedagogue whose Ubuntu-centred, decoliberatory practice spans performance, scholarship and arts leadership across four continents.

A pioneering voice in contemporary theatre and performance, Dr. Anitafrika developed the Anitafrika Dub Praxis, a methodology shaping performance training and creative practice.

Her work has been recognised with the 2026 Celebration of Cultural Life Award, the 2025 Metcalf Performing Arts Prize, and the 2023 Siminovitch Finalist Prize in Theatre.

She is currently completing Black Womxn Theatre: Personhood, Practice, & Pedagogy, forthcoming in 2026, while continuing to offer performances, workshops, artist residencies and Anitafrika Dub Praxis programmes internationally.

Now, D’bi Young Anitafrika takes her place on the Poetry Africa 2026 lineup.
