"The biggest spoken word night in London for women" (Evening Standard) returns to Edinburgh Fringe for three incendiary shows. After being shortlisted for Best Regular Spoken Word Night (Saboteur Awards), previous sell-out Fringe runs and shows at the Royal Albert Hall, we're back with an incredible revolving line-up of slam, storytelling, poetry and performance from the most exciting women and non-binary writers around. Returning to last year's Fringe home - the fabulous mezzanine space within the Scottish Poetry Library - That’s What She Said will be back at Edinburgh Fringe on Thursday 15th, Friday 16th and Saturday 17th August 2019, with a daily-changing programme featuring both emerging and iconic women and non-binary writers.

⭐⚡⭐ D'BI YOUNG ANITAFRIKA ⭐⚡⭐ August 17, 2019

Jamaican born and raised d’bi.young anitafrika, is a queer Black feminist artist. Canadian Poet of Honor, YWCA Woman of Distinction in the Arts, and three-time Dora Award winning playwright-performer, d’bi.young is internationally celebrated for her work as a Dub poet, monodramatist, director, dramaturge and educator. Addressing issues of gender, sexuality, race, class, inequality, and the human condition, through her radical interdisciplinary arts practices, d’bi.young has written, performed & published four collections of poetry, nine plays and seven dub poetry albums. She is the founding Artistic Director Emeritus of the Watah Theatre where she taught emerging and established BIQTPOC artists in Canada (2008-2018) and the founding Creative Director of the Anitafrika Retreat Centre where she teaches artists globally. d’bi.young’s latest projects include her newly published dubbin poetry: the collected poems of d’bi.young anitafrika, and concrete jungle - a new monodrama exploring entangled identities and personal emancipation.

⭐⚡⭐ JEMIMA FOXTROT ⭐⚡⭐ August 15, 2019

Jemima is a writer, performer, theatre-maker and musician. She has written five full-length works for the stage, and is at PBH Free Fringe in 2019 with a new show, Cactus. Jemima performs her work both nationally and internationally and has written many commissions including for BBC 2, BBC Arts, Channel 4 and Tate Britain. She blends lyrical poetry with snippets of original and sampled songs in her unique and powerful voice. All Damn Day, Jemima’s first collection of poetry, was published by Burning Eye Books in September 2016. Jemima is currently working on her debut novel for which she has received grants from the Arts Council and the Society of Authors.

⭐⚡⭐ REECE LYONS ⭐⚡⭐ August 16, 2019

Reece Lyons is a writer, performer and poet. She is a transgender woman who writes and performs about gender, intersectionality, feminism and other LGBT issues. She graduated in theatre from The Brit School in 2017, she became a Roundhouse Poetry Slam Finalist in 2018 and is a current member of the Roundhouse Poetry Collective 2018. The poem she performed, titled "I am a Woman and I have a Penis," has been watched by over 2.5 million people online. Commissions also include Mimbre & Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
