Photo Archive of the twentieth-anniversary reimagining of The Sankofa Trilogy by Dr. d’bi.young anitafrika, co-produced by the Theatre Centre, which hosted the Watah Theatre as a company-in-residence 2025-2026. The production of the triptych was Watah’s mainstage production in its Kincentric Theatre Season and marked Dr. anitafrika’s first exploration of presenting the trilogy as a biomyth-meets-pantodub theatre work. In the storytelling ritual, they re-imagined the world of three generations of powerful Jamaican womyn—Mudgu, Sekesu, and Benu Sankofa. The production gave Dr. anitafrika room to experiment with new formulations of African Dub Theatre from a director’s perspective and challenged them to adapt all three scripts from their original Biomyth Monodrama genre to the multi-cast framework of Pantodub.
