d’bi.young anitafrika will be sharing excerpts from multiple poetic and theatrical works at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, followed by a Q&A session. From touring the world as a Dub poet, to curating international residencies for artists in the Caribbean, North and South America, Africa and Europe, to being heralded as a Womxn of Distinction in the Arts, the creative endeavours of African Jamaican Canadian d’bi.young anitafrika, are globally celebrated. A triple Dora award-winning published playwright-performer (of twelve plays, seven books and seven Dub poetry albums), director-dramaturge and educator-scholar, d’bi.young is also the creator of the intersectional Black feminist praxis - the Anitafrika Method. She is the founding Artistic Director of the Watah Theatre where she taught emerging and established BIQTPOC artists in Canada from 2008 - 2018. She has recently relaunched Watah in the UK, as a performing arts company specialising in monodrama by Black and diverse artists. Watah hosts its inaugural BLAk sOLo International Monodrama Festival in October 2020 in London UK. This is an inclusive event for ALL those with an interest in performance, spoken word, dub poetry and the human experience in general.
