PAD WEEK Germany - the civil society conference by and for people of African descent.
Dear friends all,
We are happy to invite you to the PAD (People of African Descent) WEEK Germany (28. - 30. November 2019) in Berlin.
The three-day conference in Germany on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the International UN Decade for People of African Descent is all about People of African Descent.
In addition to capacity building, networking formats and community internal discussions, there will be panels based on the successful example of PAD WEEK in Brussels. We organised the latter in 2018 together with the Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI) of the European Parliament, the umbrella organisation European Network Against Racism (ENAR) and the Transatlantic Minority Political Leadership Conference (TMPLC). The conference also led to the first resolution on the fundamental rights of African people, which the European Parliament adopted in April in a historic vote.
The PAD WEEK Germany also wants to participate in the political discourse and stand up for the rights of black people within the framework of the UN Decade for People of African descent.
On the first day, more than 30 black, African and Afrodiasporic organisations from all over Germany will draw attention to the situation of about one million people of African descent in Germany for the first time in the Bundestag.
On the second day, the PAD communities will exchange experiences with other groups affected by racism.
On the last day we will conclude with an empowerment programme by, with and for people of African descent.
